The following signal was today received from Air Headquarters
FROM A.O.C. Western Desert:
PERSONAL: SHOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE BOTH SQUADRONS ON SPLENDID WAY IN WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN MAINTAINING ATTACKS ON BENGHASI. THE WORK HAS BEEN QUITE EXCELLENT AND IS THE BEST EXAMPLE TO ALL OUR UNITS".
In place of the customary air raid warning which is received over the telephone, this squadron was able to emanate the warning itself this evening when flares were seen to be dropping over areas some distance from our drome in the direction of EL DABA. Flares were later dropped on the far side of the aerodrome and bombs were heard to fall some time later but this was some considerable distance from our area.

Total 15 sorties and 11 aircraft were holed, none seriously.
On both raids the enemy ack-ack was intense, heavy and accurate.

Tortorella, Italy

Twelve Baltimores took off at 12.30 hours to bomb guns and troop positions at H.331523, clouds over the target area prevented identification, so no bombs were dropped. Sortie Report Oprep No. 436
Notification was received that an Administrative Officer had left CAIRO, to join the Squadron.
