The following signal was today received from Air Headquarters
FROM A.O.C. Western Desert:
PERSONAL: SHOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE BOTH SQUADRONS ON SPLENDID WAY IN WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN MAINTAINING ATTACKS ON BENGHASI. THE WORK HAS BEEN QUITE EXCELLENT AND IS THE BEST EXAMPLE TO ALL OUR UNITS".
In place of the customary air raid warning which is received over the telephone, this squadron was able to emanate the warning itself this evening when flares were seen to be dropping over areas some distance from our drome in the direction of EL DABA. Flares were later dropped on the far side of the aerodrome and bombs were heard to fall some time later but this was some considerable distance from our area.
