This day was spent in quiet relaxation in preparation for further tasks to be allotted to our flying crews. There was further Air to Ground firing practices but numerous members of the squadron took advantage of the fine weather to go bathing.
R.A.F. personnel landed on the drome late this afternoon. They were scheduled to undergo training for conversion to Maryland aircraft, and were to be accommodated at this camp during their training period.

Total of 30 sorties. Ten of our aircraft were holed by ack-ack.

A fire occurred in the Cape Corps lines, a tent catching fire and the two occupants being badly burned. They were both admitted to the Squadron Sick Bay. It appears that, contrary to Orders, they were using petrol for the washing of clothes. The storm-lantern they were using was moved nearer to the petrol tin and an explosion resulted, starting the fire.

Tortorella, Italy

A number of new aircrews reported for duty, A/Sgt. Craig, was injured by the explosion of a detonator and was removed to Hospital. At 09.00 hours a formation of twelve aircraft took off to attack Ammo. and stores area. (H.274278, 282271, 282274). The target was well covered and hits were observed amongst the buildings.
