The days pass and gradually the squadron takes on a more settled appearance. After the hard work of the months previous the artisan personnel do not appreciate the enforced period of rest and many are turning their hands to making their quarters exceedingly comfortable. Two enterprising spirits have erected their home-made wind-chargers, and are supplied o’ nights in their tents with electric lights. Kindred spirits are busy constructing comfortable quarters in the messes and some enthusiasts in the Sergeants' Mess have succeeded in building sofas out of sandbags, with the aid of "borrowed”motorcar seats.
A number of personnel have been drafted to BURG-EL-ARAB to assist in the servicing of the aircraft of this squadron now taken over by the Advanced Aircraft Depot. Others have proceeded on courses at the School at Ismailia for training on American aircraft.

98066 Lieut. S. S. FORSYTH, Signals Officer, to replace Captain P. C. VIVIAN (injured by mine fragments on 7 Jan. 43, and still in hospital) is posted in from No. 12 Squadron. 103719 LIEUT. A. J. COOPER, Observer, who has been non-effective following a slight shrapnel wound, returns to duty.

Shortly before lunch the Squadron was reminded of the war, when an anti-personnel land mine exploded in “A” Flight dispersal area. It seemed that the recent rains had interfered with the detonator as it exploded only about a minute after being run over by a truck. Fortunately no damage was done.

Tortorella, Italy

All the aircraft, that landed at POMIGLIANO the previous day, returned safely. No operations were carried out during the day.
After a period of four months, the order came through 3 (S.A.) Wing to move. A meeting of the heads of Sections was called and the Adjutant supplied all the “gen” as regards the move.
In order not to interfere with operations, all aircrews and ground crews essential for operations had to remain until the advance party had settled down at BIFERNO, the new camp.
Preparations were made for the advance party to leave early the following day.
