Pescara, Italy

Twelve Marauders briefed to attack IMOLA Marshalling Yards and formation took off from Pescara at 08.05 hours led by Major AITCHISON. Eight Spits provided a close escort. Pattern of first box resulted in a slight right error, bombs falling parallel to Marshalling Yards with numerous direct hits on buildings in the vicinity. First Vic of second box straddled N.W. portion of target, while second Vic's pattern started in open ground immediately North of Marshalling Yards and ended with 2-3 direct hits on what appears to be large factory buildings N.E. of target. One aircraft experienced bomb-door trouble and brought bombs back. No enemy opposition. All aircraft down bp 11.14 hours. Sortie Report No. 804.
