Twelve aircraft participated in a raid on CESENA Marshalling Yards and while over the target were attacked by enemy fighters resulting in one of our aircraft being damaged, necessitating a forced landing on TORTORETO Landing Ground.
The crew were as follows Lt. van NIEKERK (pilot), Lt. le ROUX (observer), W.O.11. HAMILTON (gunner) and W.O.1. STALS (WT/AG). W.O.11 HAMILTON was wounded but not seriously, and is now in Pescara Hospital. The other members of the crew were uninjured. Very good results ’were observed on the operation. Sortie Report No. 740.
