Tortorella, Italy

The weather was good and the Squadron carried out an early operation. The target was the Railway Station at SULMONA in ITALY. The main railway station was bombed; a stick of bombs fell across the Railway Yards and the road. Some direct hits were scored on track and buildings; the S.E. portion of the target was well covered by a close pattern of bombs. No opposition was encountered and all the aircraft returned safely.

A second raid was carried out during the afternoon and the target was the Railway Station of MANOPELLO. The visibility was good and the target was well covered by concentrated bomb pattern. Both boxes bombed independently on their leaders. A direct hit was scored on a building, four direct hits on the railway track and one direct hit on crossroads. Hits were also scored on the road and nearby buildings. All aircraft returned safely.
