12 Baltimores (2 Boxes of six) led by Capt. STUART on a raid on PANTELLERIA Island (Gun position F.1710-18) A new method in bombing was adopted. Vic leaders aimed independently, No.’s 2 & 3 Vic’s dropped 2 bombs in salvos on Vic Leaders’ second bomb and No. 3 & 4 in quick succession. The Vic Leaders’ bombs were dropped in a very short stick. This was tried in order to attain a larger concentration and also to minimise errors, The bombing was not completely successful and the bombs fell slightly to the left of target. One gun pit was straddled. No A.A. was seen but a few enemy fighters made an appearance after leaving the target.
