We did another two shows today. The first formation of 18 Baltimores was led by Major JANDRELL. They bombed the Landing Ground at PANTELLERIA and the bombs fell in the target area. A terrific explosion took place near the edge of the Landing Ground. Black smoke rose to 4,000 feet and could he seen fifteen minutes after leaving the target. Intense A.A. was encountered but was too late.

The Commanding Officer lead the second show consisting out of 17 Baltimores. This time PANTELLERIA Harbour was the target. Unfortunately the leader’s bombs hung up for a moment and most of the sticks overshot the target. Some bombs fell across some small boats. About a dozen small boats or barges seen inside the Eastern and Western jetties. An intense curtain of HAA was put up after bombing. This was accurate for height but again too late.
