Major COPPEN returned from his attendance of the A.O.C's.conference at CASTEL BENITO. He was able to pay TRIPOLI a short visit and returned with a dismal picture of local conditions.
It appears that the town is extremely filthy, that considerable damage has been done by our bombers along the sea-front and that the civil population is not much in evidence. Trade is at a standstill and there is little or nothing to commend the town as a popular leave resort.
