Shandur, Egypt

Bombing and machine-gunning practice was carried out by flying crews. Arrangements were made for a drogue to be towed so that gunners could have air-to-air firing practice.
Lieut. SARGENT, Squadron Met. Officer, posted to-day to Met.Section, A.H.Q., W.D.
News received that the enemy have started a thrust on the EL ALAMEIN front.
Health and General
There has been little deterioration the health of squadron personnel although there has been further incidence of Malaria contracted in the ISMAILIA area. The arrival of aircraft has been a decided stimulus to morale among all ranks and the month ends with the squadron “girding its loins” for battle. After eight months of relatively little activity the squadron is almost ready to carry on the task allotted the South African Air Force in the Western Desert.‍
