August 14, 1942

L.G. 212, Kasfareet, Egypt

A funeral with full military honours was accorded the late 2/Lieut. JOYNER this morning at the GENEIFA Military Cemetery. All ranks of the squadron who could be released from duties were present.
There was great excitement in the squadron when six Baltimore aircraft were sighted over KASFAREET in the afternoon. Telephonic advice had been received earlier in the day that the squadron’s second flight of aircraft with crews had reached BALLAH. The crews were accorded a warm welcome, squadron personnel rushing out to meet each aircraft as it landed while the squadron orchestra “said it with music” as, mounted on a truck, they approached each aircraft in turn.
Major BARNBY D.F.C who led the formation of six aircraft in the flight to Egypt took over command of the squadron as Acting Officer Commanding.
