A second preliminary visit by the squadron was paid to our new camp site when Major RECK accompanied by the Transport and Defence Officers of the squadron went over to KASFAREET. Contact was made with the Station O.C.and Adjutant and the site discussed. The camp site is bounded by a runway on the main KASFAREET 'drome running S.S.E. – N.N.W. on the one side, a railway line on the other side and laterally by a Bofors gun site and the camp of another squadron. This provided a very restricted area for the entire squadron and permission was obtained to extend the camp over the railway line, the additional space being reserved for dispersal of M.T., stores, specialist vehicles and for the Cape Corps lines. It was apparent though, that even with this additional area the space for the main camp would be restricted. However, "orders is orders" and an advance party was sent off this afternoon to clear the campsite and to arrange for the pitching of tents.
