The day was one of comings and goings – aircraft landing and taking off all day. The duty pilot really had a field day. Rear 3 Wing are back near base and the Base parties of both 12 and 24 squadrons are on L.G. 97 just over the road. The messes were a hum of activity with acquaintances from all the returning squadrons coming in to see old pals and swap yarns. It would seem that “someone had blundered” in a big way up forward and seems that the Germans will soon be “over the border”.
