Needless to say there were several casualties from the "after effects of the night before” – but just like their heads “the least said, soonest mended!!” Our popular quartermaster-sergeant Phil COHEN received notification today that he has received his commission – and thoroughly well deserved it is too. One of the old and bold, he is a foundation member of the squadron and he has always been tireless in his energies and labours in getting all sorts of bits and pieces for the squadron. His smiling face is well known in the different A.S.P.’s and M.U.’s in the command and his reputation as a scrounger and worker goes far beyond the limits of the squadron. The drinks will be on him as soon as we can get hold of him – he being on one of his foraging expeditions in the Delta area that means anywhere and everywhere!!Our “Butch” being at a loose end for the nonce and with the ambition of emulating Joe Sarkis and other “Kings” of the dirt track purloined one of the Squadron motor cycles – the net result of his noble effort was that he was hurriedly admitted to his own sick bay as an “out” patient – very much “Out” indeed!!! Our roving reporter after a more or less thorough investigation informs us that the “Quack” got slightly mixed up between the throttle, the gears and the brakes and the result was that he also got mixed up in the guy ropes of one of the tents and was nearly decapitated in the process!! Doc DONEN is a sadder if not wiser man with this arm in sling and an ominous red mark round his “Adam’s apple” – his further efforts in attempting to master the art of this fascinating sport are most eagerly awaited by the whole squadron!Major BARNBY O.C. “A” flight has decided that “B” flight have done far too much crowing on the sporting side and he intends getting his lads under way towards wiping up all opposition. Wisely he started off with a challenge against the Armourers cricket team. Thus far the match is undecided but “A” flight have a very useful side and the other members of the Squadron league will have to look to their laurels in the remaining matches of the round.
