The necessity for organising sport and other forms of re-creation in the camp is making itself felt and despite a shortage of sporting equipment efforts are under way to organise various teams. Cricket, hockey and soccer appear the most suitable and with the kindly assistance of Padre Pike, the S.A. Padre attached to Base Camp across the way, inter-unit matches will shortly be the order of the day. The first in the series was against 12 Squadron – a soccer match which ended in a 3-0 victory for our opponents, but which also revealed that there is considerable football talent among our personnel. A little more practice and they should combine well.
