L.G. 076

An early morning show with nine of our Marylands leading nine of 12 Squadron and led by our O.C. Col Jan. The target was again M.T. and A.F.V’s near EL ADEM. It was a really successful raid well up to the old squadron tradition. Several direct hits on large buildings resulted in large fires and one terrific explosion We also got the enemy napping this time for his dispersal of vehicles was very poor and we gave him a good pasting. All our bursts were right in the middle of quite heavy concentrations of enemy vehicles. There must have been about 800 vehicles in this area and our bombs must have wreaked havoc among them.
The escorting aircraft, Tomahawks of our No. 4 Squadron put up a damn fine show. They were on the mark and quickly gave cover whenever one of the Marylands lagged behind the main formation.
This evening witnessed a big concentration of 'Wimpeys' flying to and from 75 throughout the night. They seemed to be having a "field night” of it.
