There was a respite from operations today. The introduction of daily news summaries, copies of which were distributed for the first time to all the messes today, provided a new and welcome feature of camp life. One of our cypher officers, 2/Lieut. Newman is taking these news services down from DAVENTRY and copies of his summary are read at the breakfast table so to speak. This news has proved to be much ahead of the daily newspapers and is all the more welcome for this reason, as the latest world events continue to prove of considerable interest to all ranks.

Aircraft and ground personnel brought up from B.L.G. where our Base Party now consists of HQ. Flight, reserve aircraft and a minimum of other personnel. Four other ranks (Sheet Metal Workers) posted in as replacements.

Belvedere, Italy

The convoy was late in moving off as there was a shortage of petrol, in addition is the fact that, many vehicles needed minor repairs. The M.T. Officer went ahead and managed to procure sufficient petrol to enable the party to move further on. It was decided owing to the lateness of the hour that a halt for the night would be made at BELVEDERE.
