September 2, 1941
Shandur, Egypt

One of our aircraft Maryland 1646, piloted by 2/Lieut. Cumming crashed on landing here in the course of O.T.U. training flight. Neither the pilot nor his crew received injuries. The aircraft was "not repairable by Unit"and request for salvage and replacement was made.
Meanwhile the advance party were well on their way to 0.21. Accorded excellent treatment at the R.A.F. Station, AMRIYA, and refreshed by showers and an excellent midday meal there, they pushed on to reach the landing ground that night.

Shandur, Egypt

Ranks of our flying personnel considerably increased by arrival of nine crews. Advance notification of their arrival enabled all necessary arrangements for accommodation, messing etc. to be made. They came to us from S.A.A.F. Base Depot.

Cuticchio, Sicily

A formation of 12 aircraft took off at 10.30 Hrs. escorted by six Warhawks to attack RADIO LOCATION STATION, at CAPE SPARTIVENTO. Most of the bombs fell short of the target area. At 17.35 Hrs. another formation of 12 aircraft took off to attack a GUN POSITION at D.6054; the target was hit in good pattern.
