The squadron "Silly Sandphoney” concert party had been invited to "do their stuff' at the 4 S.A. General Hospital, and the opportunity of providing entertainment for less fortunate individuals was welcomed. And so the little concert party sallied forth by truck this morning to the South African Hospital where in the evening, on a delightful little stage, they played to a "capacity house" in the local Springbok Hall. The audience – and the actors – seemed to enjoy themselves immensely, and an impromptu dance which followed rounded off a happy evening.‍

May 4, 1943
El Djem

A formation of 18 Baltimores led by Major BARNBY took off at 0645 hrs to bomb enemy positions at ZAGHGUAN village. The formation attacked the village of DJEBIBINA. Two boxes bombed across the village and one box North of the village. One fire started in the village. "Oprep” No. 285, Sortie Report & Crew List.
Six of our airmen were injured in a motor accident this afternoon, luckily none serious.

Biferno, Italy

A busy day. Three raids were carried out. The first target was an Ammo. Dump near ORTE but owing to late arrival of the escorting fighters alternative targets were attacked with success. Our aircraft on the second operation bombed a Stores Dump near LORETO. FABRIANO Marshalling Yards was the target for the last raid of the day. Sortie Report Nos. 655, 656 & 657.
A R.A.F. Dance Band visited the Squadron and put up an excellent show.  Squadron Routine Order No.39/44.
