El Djem

We were reminded last night that the Luftwaffe still have a few aircraft left. A number of JU 88's paid us a visit and dropped some heavy and anti-personnel bombs on and around the landing ground. Two Bostons of 24 Squadron were hit and burnt out. One bomb exploded next to one of our Flight Sergeant's tent, considerable damage was done to their kit and tent. Luckily no one was injured.
We had a working party of approximately 200 out early this morning clearing the runways, and we were the only Squadron in the wing who turned-out. Capt. MOUTON promoted to Major on posting to 55 Squadron, R.A.F., as Flight Commander. His observer Lt. SIMON has also been posted to the same Squadron and they left today. No. operational flying. Oprep.
