"A" Flight Commander Maj. Baxter was to-day posted, with his crew, to No. 12 Squadron on Authority of A.D.A.P. M.E. and another crew were transferred to fill vacancies in No 24 Squadron. This depletes the ranks of our flying personnel but in view of the fact that this squadron is out of operations for some time and is likely to remain so, on present indications for some time to come, the policy of posting operationally trained crews to other units at present in operations, is not to be contested, by this unit.
Our “A” Party under Captain STEYN moved off at 0845 hrs. At 1030 hours instructions were received that our “B” Party as well as the aircraft have to move and that the L.G. has now been changed from HASBUB to SENEM. The Commanding Officer and the Adjutant flew to SENEM this afternoon to intercept “A” Party and to select a camp site.
The landing ground at SENEM is the worst one the Squadron ever had to operate from and a lot of trouble is expected in landing Baltimores here as the runways are full of big bumps. Our “A” Party arrived at 1530 hours at SENEM. Every one thoroughly disappointed as the show by the Concert Party had to be cancelled. No operational flying. Oprep No. 252.
The weather was fairly good and there was an early standby but no operational flying carried out. Air Vice Marshall SLESSOR paid the Squadron a short official visit.
