Col. Willmott, O.C. 3 S.A. Wing paid an informal visit to this unit, during “48 hours leave from the desert”.
A representative of Air Force signals, appropriately equipped with motor-cycle, called in in the late afternoon to make enquiries regarding our requirements for telephones, exchanges etc. in this area. These were given to him.

No operational flying today. Oprep. No. 216.
Sent an aircraft to KASFAREET this morning for an engine change. It was a good opportunity to get back a couple of airmen who were due for R.T.U. too. The big snag these days is organising something like that. Lifts to CAIRO are few and far between.
We hear that the convoy has reached EL ASSA in safety.

Nil operations owing to inclement weather. Authority was received promoting Lieut. Faure (Signals Officer) to the rank of Captain. Members of the South African P.F. Band gave a musical entertainment in the Airmen’s Mess.
