The O.C., the Adj. and others went off by air to CAIRO to-day to discuss administrative matters at S.A.A.F. Headquarters in CAIRO, returning again at noon with the news that the entire squadron could be granted a fortnight's leave. A parade was immediately called and the news passed on to all the men who greeted the news with undisguised heartiness.

A large consignment of Official mail caught up with us today.
Postings Out: Lt.- Colonel A. D. IRVINE to S.A.A.F. Depot for R.T.U. on expiration of tour of duty; 11 other ranks (5 electricians and 6 W/Ops.) similarly posted for R.T.U. One detail (attached Cape Corps) posted to S.A.A.F. Depot - non-effective. No. 203216 Lieut. H. DENTON, Observer, posted to S.A.A.F.Depot for R.T.U. by air on compassionate leave, w.e.f. 12 Jan. 43. Captain BELL and crew posted to No. 60 Squadron. Unfortunately no Observer was available (Lieut. DENTON having been of the crew) and the posting was effected minus one. Although Capt. BELL has been with the Squadron only a short while we are extremely sorry to lose him and wish him all the luck as a Flight Commander in No. 60 Squadron. A cold day was followed by light rain during the night.
No operational flying: Oprep No. 179
All messes enjoyed a change in diet today : Four gharries went out yesterday and the hunters returned with sufficient gazelle to supply all messes with a day's venison to interrupt the ringing of the changes on M. & V. and bully; a very welcome break.
