Bu Amud

During the past three weeks the Squadron has participated in five raids which, through no fault of our own, have been unproductive. To-day seven aircraft set out to bomb a target at SERTE. Information as to the objective was vague, the target a difficult one and the results again not up to standard.
A recce. kite was reported over here early this morning, portending perhaps a visit in force by Jerry on the morrow, as photographs would have revealed a goodly collection of aircraft.

Convoy

Shortly after an early start, the cook was overtaken about a mile from last night's camp – Just beyond NOFILIA, as instructed – but that did not prevent numerous very rude remarks as the convoy pulled past him. At about 10.00 hours, the convoy reached the vicinity of its destination. As no information was available as to location, a temporary camp was dispersed SW of GZINA L.G.(Chel II), repairs to transport commenced and a party sent back to our minefield to fetch the remainder of the load of one of the mined trucks, spare parts and the guard which had been left there.
It was ascertained that our Wing and Squadrons would be operating from CHEL II and would be moving in as soon as the L.G. is vacated by239 Wing and its Squadrons. The main trouble here is lack of water. The nearest Water Point is at NOFILIA (50) miles back and the water is almost too salty to drink.
Information received that SOLUCH L.G., where our aircraft are still U/s. owing to rain.
No flying: Oprep No. 157 (6th.)
Oprep No. 158 (7th.)
Oprep No. 159 (8th.)
The following pilots who were posted to No. 1 A.D.U. last month for ferrying duty, are posted back to the Squadron: No. 32331 Lieut. T.W. EATON. 84381 Lieut. J.E. A'BEAR, 103872 Lieut. N.S. CLUTTERBUCK. Our aircraft were in great demand this afternoon as 239 Wing advises that Jerry has started to withdraw from BUERAT and that there are excellent targets.
