Wintry and icy conditions today . Some of us are even prepared to sample Siberia after a winter in the Western Desert. Uncomfortable though the rotten cloudy weather is very many of us welcome it because the moon will be full tonight and Jerry with his Junkers may try to take advantage of that fact.
6 of our Marylands went out to bomb a target which involved a total flight of almost a thousand miles . The weather, however, prevented any bombs being dropped.
Supplies are now difficult to obtain . Our rations remains just Bully camouflage by our cook to resemble other much more palatable dishes. M.T. Fuel is strictly rationed with the result that our vast fleet of motor–cycles are not as active as usual. Even aircraft fuel is not too plentiful.
All day long one hears explosions in this part of the world. The countryside is almost one huge ammunition dump with hand grenades, shells and land mines dotted all over the place.
The Boche gave it stick over Tobruk tonight. From a few minutes past 6 till 7.30 he was overhead. The Tobruk Ack-Ack put up a terrific barrage. At one stage the entire horizon was one huge sheet of flame as the guns flashed angrily at the enemy aircraft overhead. Four bombs dropped a few miles away from us and everybody scurried for cover.
